What makes you think the Vita is going to sell well in America? The amazing sales of the PSP? The incredible work of Sony's marketing staff? \
You may be right, the system may sell well in America, but if history is any indicator, there is NO way that system sells well in this country. They have no brand recognition with the PSP, since the sony vita PSP sold so poorly here, and there's just so much competition with the 3DS and mobile devices.
Can Sony turn this around? Probably, the 3DS looked doomed for it's first six months or so. However, the reason the VIta was released in Japan first, was because of the fact that the PSP was a powerhouse in that market.
Take heart sony fanboys, if you like the system, you'll get your Sony first party games on it, and you'll have a great time playing those, don't worry about what anybody else says.
The 3DS was priced the same as the Vita. As is, there isn't that much of a difference, and the Vita is quite reasonably priced for all of its technical power.
Of course, I can't refute that Nintendo has amazing first party software. It's true. I'm also not going to argue that overall, the Wii and 3DS have "no good games." That's not true. However, for sheer quantity of extremely high caliber experiences, those systems, unfortunately, don't quite measure up. Sure, you will find good games on the Wii and 3DS. But you will find a good deal more on their competitors systems.
Not to mention, the 3DS is fraught with issues. No sony vita dual analog sticks without an entirely separate periphreal, for example. That's quite ridiculous. And a lot of the "best upcoming titles" really aren't all that great. Kid Icarus causes hand issues, and we're expected to be thrilled for Luigi's Mansion. I mean, it was sony vita a pretty good game for Gamecube, but it's not a masterpiece.
And we have the games. Just look at the Vita's launch lineup. Lumines. Uncharted. ModNation Racers. Escape Plan. Super Stardust. WipeOut. Rayman. Katamari. Marvel vs. Capcom. And that's day ONE
A paperweight? Despite it's lackluster sales in "Japan" i'm sony vita sure it'll do great over here and in Europe. The same thing happened with the DS and PSP. The DS sold a ton around launch and the following few years and once everyone in Japan had one the PSPs starting selling like hotcakes lol
what's troubling is that even the PSP is outselling the Vita in Japan. There's no love for the Vita in Japan. No doubt there will be in other territories but will they continue to sell in Japan once it's released worldwide? Everyone keeps saying that things will change when its here in the states or in Europe... but that doesn't mean the sales will rise in Japan. This might be a lil exaggerating but i dont know whether the xbox was doing better over there, or is the Vita doing better over there. and i saw WAS because i think they stopped shipments to Japan already for the Xbox. imo, your console should do way better in it's home territory than outside.
I'd say it was a fair trade since they gave us a few free games. Each would have cost 2.99 to 6.99 if they decided to put them up on the eShop. (Judging from the prices sony vita of their other downloadables.
